Next up - Bangkok United

Bangkok United are the modern form of Bangkok University FC. They play at the Thai-Japanese Stadium in Din Deang, near Sukhumvit Road. As such, the club has a reasonably large ex-pat following.

For this preview, I decided to imitate Dale at the Chonburi FC site and interview an opposition fan. My victim was Svein, an expat fan who lives in Bangkok.

1) So many Bangkok United games were postponed because of the political unrest near the stadium. How did this affect the fans and the team?

The team got more time for training, so I don`t think it has affected them badly. For me on the other hand, I hate postponements and cancellations...

2) The team narrowly avoided relegation last season. What is the aim for this season?

We want to win the league of course!
To be more serious I think top 6 should be in reach this season. We don`t loose many games. Last season we got 15 draws, and in the pre-season games we got lots of draws too, so if we can change a few of those to wins this season we will do very well. We have got a good start to the season and hopefully we can continue like that.

3) You've taken four points from your first two games, how have the team been performing?

Against Police we didn`t score on our chances, but we played good. Should have finished them off before they got their goal.
The second game, vs Osotspa, we also played very good, we scored 2 goals and defended well, except for their goal in the opening minutes.

 4) How do your fans feel about Muangthong United as a team?
5) And what do your fans think of MTU fans?
I don`t know how others see them (you), but I see them (you) as Thailand`s Man United. Best team, biggest crowd and making lots of money on supporters.

6) Any players we should look out for in this fixture?
You are big favourites, but it will not be easy to get any balls behind our goalkeeper Weera.

7) How many away fans do you expect to attend the game?
Don`t know. At least 50 I hope, but for everything I know it can be a few hundred.

8) What do you expect the score to be?
It was 2-2 last season, so we`ll take at least one point this time too.

9) Anything else you want to add?
Good luck on saturday! You`ll need it. :)
